HTC Scores Sales Revenue of Over NT$10 B. in Feb.

Taipei, March 9, 2010 (CENS)--The Taiwan-based High Tech Computer Corp. (HTC), a world-caliber supplier of own-brand smartphones, scored sales revenue of NT$10.194 billion (US$318.56 million at US$1: NT$32) in February, up 10.73% from year earlier, according to the firm.

In the first two months of the year, HTC raked in aggregate revenue of NT$21.315 billion (US$666.09 million), growing 10.93% from NT$19.214 billion (US$600.43 million) of a year earlier. Institutional investors indicate that the firm is very likely to achieve its revenue goal of between NT$32 billion and NT$34 billion (US$1-1.06 billion) for the first quarter of the year, as the firm`s upcoming promotion of new HTC-branded smartphones in Europe and Asia is expected to boost its shipment and sales performance starting in March.

HTC just unveiled three new smartphones, namely Desire, Legend and HD Mini, at MWC (Mobile World Congress) 2010, held February 15-18 in Barcelona, Spain, with a couple of telecom companies having placed their orders for the handsets.

Besides, the firm`s HTC Smart, which was debuted at CES (Consumer Electronic Show) 2010, running January 7-10 in Las Vegas, the U.S., has been exclusively distributed by O2 in Germany, Ireland and the U.K., and will also be launched in Italy, France, the Netherlands, Norway and other European countries by local telecom companies, respectively, starting in April.

Industry insiders note that with Microsoft to officially launch its newest handset operating system, Windows Phone 7, by the end of this year, HTC is expected to launch the world`s first smartphone installed with the operating system as the foremost among brands.
