Hon Hai Reshuffling Deployment in China

2010/07/27
Taipei, July 27, 2010 (CENS)--In the wake of a litany of suicidal incidents at its Shenzhen plant, Hon Hai Group is reshuffling its deployment in China, including the transfer of its operational center to Hebei Province, Tianjin, and Beijing, as the accelerated pace for moving to western China.

Tung Wenxin, spokesman of Foxconn, Hon Hai`s Chinese subsidiary, pointed out that the production bases in Hebei, Tianjin, and Beijing will account for 70% of Foxconn`s output in China.

Meanwhile, Hon Hai Group will establish major production bases in several cities in western China, including Chongqing and Chengdu in Sichuan and Zhengzhou in Henan. According to the company`s internal plan, the Chengdu will become a production base for set-top box and tablet PC and Zhengzhou for mobile phones, while the Shenzhen base will specialize in iPhone and iPad.

In addition, production at Taiyuan plant of Shanxi Province, which has over 9,000 workers now, will be shifted to Langfang in Hebei and Tianjin, in order to shorten the transport route for the supply of components and parts.
